SUMMARY:Heritage Open Days 2024
DESCRIPTION:How do you know you’re in Harehills?\nThe aim of the workshop is to involve local people in thinking about the three key shopping parades through Harehills (Roundhay Road\, Harehills Road and Harehills Lane). The first part of the session will involve looking at past and present maps and documents to understand the history of these three routes\, and to see how they have changed. There will then be opportunities for participants to discuss their past and present experiences of these\, reflecting on the types of shops and houses\, the appearance of the buildings\, links to public space such as parks\, the people\, sensory changes etc. The third part of the session will encourage people to think about how these routes might be improved. Participants can record what they have to say through audio\, notes and images\, whether that’s sticking post-its on a plan\, drawing their vision\, creating a word cloud or something else. There will also be word searches and poetry worksheets for children. The outputs of the session will be shared with the Harehills Neighbourhood Forum for inclusion in their neighbourhood planning ‘Community Priorities Statement.’ \n  \n \n  \nBooking information \n10 bookable places are available for those who prefer to have a guaranteed place. Additional places will be available to drop-in on the day. \nContact Joanne Harrison on 07737 484621 or at office@harrisonarchitecturalheritage.co.uk \n  \nThis event is funded by Leeds Civic Trust.
