Everyday life in Harehills’ back-to-back houses: 1910-1950

A podcast providing a detailed account of the ‘everyday’ social history of the Harehills neighbourhood by researcher and narrator Joanne Harrison, that includes excerpts from audio recorded interviews with former and current residents (recorded 2019-2022). In these excerpts, the interviewees recall life from 1910 to 1950, and they discuss their daily lives and those of relatives, touching on the architecture and interiors, work, cleaning, leisure time, family and neighbour relationships. The voices and the detail they provide bring to life Harehills of the past in a way you won’t find in history books.
