Residential Retrofit in Former Chapel, Powys

The owner of this former Methodist Chapel and Sunday school is converting it to a private residence and holiday home. Having already undertaken some key energy efficiency improvements including secondary glazing and solar panels, he wanted advice about some of the more difficult aspects of the adaptation and thermal upgrade. Of primary importance was that the project should have a low carbon footprint. I assessed the building and reported my recommendations, specifying insulation products that were both vapour permeable and eco-friendly, and provided detailed options of how to install insulation to difficult spaces and junctions, and on walls that have architectural features.
