Georgian House, Wakefield
The owners of this late 18th century / early 19th century house in the greenbelt want to make adaptations to the property so that they can continue to live in it for the rest of their lives, and also make it more energy efficient.
I produced concept options for creating an accessible ground floor, complete with living room, kitchen / dining room, wet room and bedroom, and a replacement bathroom at first floor. This involved careful consideration of the heritage significance of the house, selected demolition to the rear, and a new rear extension. The drawings are currently being prepared for a planning application.
Alongside the design work, an energy assessment was undertaken and various energy efficiency improvements were modelled to identify the optimum solutions. The selected improvements are being integrated into the project in line with the ‘whole house’ approach.
